I remember Kansas, where the clouds become mountains on the horizen. And Iowa, where corn fields in summer have this "come hither" feel as the wind ruffles the leaves and bends the stalks gently in the wind. Like a sea of a different sort, but still a siren on its own. I can sense that a skeleton would enjoy a sense of order, rows of wheat and corn as well as vertebra. There would be a sense of ordreliness too, in knowing that the class clown was always a "Wellbright" and Shrimplett meant fine Angus beef no matter the price. . . . But also limits when everyone knows your name and has preset expectations. Often those expectations hold us back from excelling in our own right and branching out to rise above the things that limit us. Maybe that is the double edge . . .the binding force . . .expectations can keep us on track, but often a track implies limitations. Perhaps we would have instictively chosen that very path as our pwn through the woods. Perhaps we would have another. Maybe that is why so many migrate West, to the ocean. Where again, the clouds become moving mountains. Thanks for sharing Spiny. PS - see, I successfullllly resisted mentioning anything about you being a pillar of your community. Oh, and it is not that I do not like the artist you mentioned, it is just that I find something transcendent and universal and transforming about Arnos stuff. There are moments he seems to capture, that go deep inside you. But instead of looking at Indras net, his photos seem like he somehow captures Indra in the process of casting it. And I do not often see that, so it strikes me. But there are other artist whose work is like seeing that net float down into the deep blue midnight depths and bring up rich internal treasures. It is the skill of the Indra, and not just his net, that lures the secrets out of the sea. From what I hear, some fish would be just a happy to skip the whole net thing and just jump into the boat. (These, of course, would be the starkist tuna who know a good thing when they see it and act accordingly. The other tuna, of course, are more of the Chicken of the Sea types who swim in schools.) must go . . .Al
