Nancy - Not sure what a Dover lock jaw is, but it sounds impressive. Also not familiar with your two references ("Love Letters" and "Swimming to Cambodia") so this will be more abstract. Does the piece center or hinge on the person being "short, exotic eurasian with a natural Boston accent" or is it more universal regarding the culture of 9-11? For example, if it is about how it affected the Asian community than the audience would expect the actor to portray (and probably be of ) that culture. If the work is about how it affected someone short - a tall person is going to have trouble carrying off the part. But imagine for a moment that (for whatever reason) you were still the essence of you (moi) but had been born into a different body. You still are you - the same humor and jokes and thoughts and (passion?) for martinis - just different outside packaging and a different nasal inflection - - - say NH instead of MA. Would the resulting work still reflect you and hold true for you? If so, then the outside details may not matter much. And what does matter more is the spirit of the piece. Not sure if this helps - but did not want to leave you hanging . . . Al PS. Glad I did not start by calling you Prune Whip - cuz then you would be Pru and that does not seem like it would be a prudent thing to call someone. Although I think Prudence was a popular Victorian name. Riff? Oddly, I like that.
