I hear the sphinx is lovely this time of year. If you go at night you can avoid the crowds and watch the moon rise to the east, the lights of Cairo to the north, or the glow of the first raise of the sun (again to the east) if you stay awake till morning. of course, the best pace to see such things would be up high, but you would need a good imagination or a pair of wings to get you there, since I doubt the officials would approve of a book signing on top of the Sphinx. But what about nearby? We could spend the day crawling through dusty tunnels, sit on top of a pyramid at sunset to catch our breaths and then end up at the sphinx for dinner, a live reading and a signed book. Hmmm . . . but I am not being very practical, am I? By the time you could get it all arranged, it would be summer, hot and very crowded. Oh well, it was a lovely dream while it lasted.
