I just finished reading and absorbing the Artful Dodger (I know I'm a little behind.) I couldn't stop laughing at the image of Nick talking into his little post box! I am familiar with Bowen Island (where Nick lives) and it's strange mix of inhabitants so I can totally see them looking at Nick like he was nuts. Especially since I identify myself as a member of the "nutty" group. I discovered Bowen Island quite by accident when I lived out that way in '89 and absolutely loved the place. I went back to visit many times, drinking it all in and visualizing my "dream home." One of my favourite spots was the little stone bridge, to your right as you come off the ferry. Little did I know at the time that a fabulous artist and author who would become my favourite, was living there, in my favourite place. Nick's story has inspired me to pick up my pencils and draw again after a 28 year hiatus. From the time I could hold a crayon, I loved to draw but school managed to destroy my confidence as an artist and I eventually gave up trying to produce anything. Thank you Nick! from, Darlene, happily living in Kingston, ON - but still wishing I could live on Bowen Island!
