In many ways it's not right that I only go to big cities. But it's how the publishers work. They call the publicity tune. One of the best readings I ever did was in Ketchum Idaho -- so I think your point is valid. In a way it comes down to writing and painting or doing extended tours. I knida feel my job is to make the book as well as I can and talk about them in the time that's left over--which isn't much.
