Dear Nick, I guess it depends on what you are looking for. The Ryerson Library of The Art Institute of Chicago has a very old collection of graphic art, and art in general. University Libraries are always a good source, if possible check on their old yearbooks- the best are from the 1920's and 30's, they are always full of interesting graphics and text as well as the sepia photographs.. Check your city hall for archives of zoning maps, old architectural drawing plans..you can make copies there generally..if lucky you maybe able to check on old marriage licenses and birth certificates, although most are on computer now..but the originals are kept also. Other places you might have checked on, are resale /goodwill stores and their stock of media-books and magazines are sometimes interesting and varied. Old paperback book covers may be a nice collage tool (and very cheap too!) hope that helps, Arete [email protected]
