Perhaps the absentice of food makes the echinda heart grow stronger? (or perhaps owls swoop down in the night and keep the hope of the existence of the shy echinda alive?) or perhaps a colony of ants nightly rise up from their howls in the gground and lay waste to the plate so thoughtfull provided by the caretaker, who loves ants just as much as echindas (or perhaps the echinda caretaker needs to veleive the echinda lives still so he/she can go on calling him/hher self an echinda caretaker instead of a echinda enclosure caretaker (or perhaps the echinda has rented out the zoo encloser for midnight maddness parties and raves, and the price of admission is to take some of that nastye food home so the plate is clean each morning, along with the enclosure) or perhaps . . . . . . . .
