Tyson ~ And here I thought beavers only came in brown! But yes, the old tradition was that white was only worn after Easter and before Labor Day. (Although I think that Caanadian and USA holidays are slightly different days. But no matter. . .) My guess is that white shoes are notauthorisly hard to keep clean during the muddy, witner months (as well as rainy Spring and Autumn months) - and so they were strictly late spring, summer and Indian shummer shoes. But that was when most of the earth was not paved. Now that thye have paved over paradice and made it a parking lot (ya know, they did that to the house my mom grew up in - and the only thing we rescued from the abandoned building a week before it was bulldozed was the iron my grandmother used for eyars - the type you put by the fire to heat up . . . th ething must have weighed at least 10 lbs . . . so we used it as a doorstop for years. Strange. Anyway - that trip we had a few hours of fun pulling Spanish Moss out of old trees - making a fine mess and acting like hoodlums - the kind in Pollyanna. . . .;-) ) Just had a thought - if you aare truly in a pickle of what to waer - why not follow the model of Scarlett OHara and remake one of those banners you kept I-ing last year into a fabulous toga, lab coat, 3 piece vested suit, or ultra modern retro hippeesk afghan (not the dog, the outfit!). How could they possibly REFUSE to let you in if you are wearing . . . err . . the maestros work? As a trendy yet tasteful, hamage - of course. (however, I advise keeping an escape vehicle nearby just incase [breif*?}. (lol) And if they start serving frog legs, pate of any fowl mentioned on this site, or stout in glasses with no lips - run . . . (cannon [beach\ balls!) oh and to be on the safe side, I would make a matching handbag to take your own wineglass in. They do still let you eat munchies, drink and make merry at thses things, dont they? - AL (ducking back down into purgatory where I belong on a lend - lease program . . .Its a long story) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(psssss . .. err Tyson, having done a little history checking and seeing that you already have copped to museum ejection and banner coveting - perhaps - on second thought - keeping a low profile might be more fitting than an afghan . . . when you gogh to Van undercover. And try not to touch anything! . . I hear it is considered bad . . .err . . . form. (the clock is TICking and so must I . . .)
