Hmmmm . . . I think the stereotype of girls not being good at math has meant that a lot of the female gender do not get math. Perhaps part of the puzzle is due to the differnice in - and interchanging back and forth - between the 10 and 12 based systems (metric and English). So it is easy to fade out in the backwash of numbers. But if match and the turning issue coinside for you, perhaps you want to look at the systems you have and see if there is a link between numbers and things that turn . . .
