Hmm . . . in no particular oder, here goes . . . "your fears" = sour feary aka sour fairy. To "let go" you have to open your hand, and to "fully embrace" you have to grasp, so I also read it also as the opening and closing hand . . . and thus as potential and mastery, which back to front is mastering your potential. Back to front seem to be part of the endless pairs of opposites and how to combine and or balance them without neutralizing them into a static energy or middle position (opps had to go stop and retrieve an ant wondering around my keybaord and realse iot back into the garden . . .) that has no movement. Like the difference between A) a reaction of two chemicals that react and use up all their energy reacting and coming into balance - but then the reactions stops, versus B) two chemicals that act like catalysts - causing an endless play of reactions back in forth - effecting whatever comes into contact within the pool they reside in - balancing out whatever falls in but the reactions never consume them, change their essential state or making them less. It is a profound difference in reactions. . . . . . .Another example is the yin and yang symbols taken together. A dot of each remains in the other. But there is something more to it than that - these two opposites not only contain a bit of each other, but they also curve into one another and form a thrid symbol - (hmmm let me see if I can its name . . seems like it is called the I ching) . . . Hmmm . . . You can think of it as a choice of options of what to be when there are two opposites - in this case dark and light - and the purpose of coming together - to form a whole, to intermix into one homogeneous thing, to interact and play, to create meaning (both manifest and latent), to ????. Start by imagining the simple choices: a circle completely grey, a circle divided down the middle into light and dark, two parts of light and dark separated by an S curve, two commas intertwined, the yin and yang symbols with a bit of the other in its midst. Each could be considered a whole within an encircling boundary circle. But there is a big difference between a static grey circle and the balanced dynamism of the yin yang. Imagine time as a factor and see if you animate the symbols the grey circle - it just keeps welling up a pool of greyness, while the yin-yang symbol can spin like a pin wheel or remain still but have the dots welling up and dynamically changing each the yin to yang and the yang to yin - harmony with the state of the other. But you still have a two dimensional symbol acting in the 4th dimension of time and after you complete a cycle you are back to the same starting point. . . . But why have the monad limited to just these chioces (solid half circles or commas)? The monad can dynamically become a play of light and dark, variations like the triad, curvilinear enclosure, loops and interlacements (symbol #s 1486 - 1584) in Handbook of Designs and Devices by Clarence P. Hornung. (heck, #385 looks cool too and the entire universe of symbol making is a possibility if you re-interpret or change the purpose from. Instead of the point being about balance (aka equal parts of each value) in a static symbol it could become a "balancing force" through a dynamic symbol that morphs and changes to the input and transforms (rather like the laser light shows in planetariums where the light responds to the music and the show is one of laser light and dark sphere making symbols with each other - the light moving, seeping changing, the background reflecting and supporting the play. Interesting books I have not read - (manifest and latent meaning in symbols in "Signs in Contemporary Culture" by Arthur Berger and an interesting mystic/mathematical book "The Meaning of Geometry" by Arthur Young about 2, 3, 4 and 12 fold operators.) Just stuff off the top of my head . . .Enjoy!!
