Excellent points, Al. It is fascinating to see the ebb and flow of history regarding this subject. In the end, I hope writers can continue their art without having to worry about these things. As an aspiring writer myself, I know the beauty of being consumed by that headspace, and creating from sheer imagination. If that means bringing out the gallows humor, or the sheer sweetness of poetry - so be it. The written word shall always hold a magic to it that other avenues will never fully capture.
