Ooohhh!! I love trading recipes. Here is one I really like for the summer months. You take three apples (freshly picked with the dew still on them, if you can find them oh - and from the interior part of the tree if possible since these have less sunburn and so softer skins) and dice them into small squares. Add in a handful of raisins and half a handful of walnit peices and the hearts of several celery stalks finely sliced (but not paper thin). Then, on the side prepare a dressing of a glob or two of real mayo, a quick squeeze of lemon juice, and a light dusting of cinnamon. Mix sauce well, then combine with whole ingredients and toss (sed not out the window). Serve on a platter lined with grape leaves, or alternatively clumped ornately on one side with a few slightly quartered figs set off on top of some fig leaves (freshly picked if you can, but that usually means you have to harvest them from your own garden). Now, the only way to describe the slightly quarted figs is to describe them is unfortunately in a most unappeteasing way - the look you are going for is the burst open appearance of those alien pods in the mother ship in Alien 1. Never fear, this presentation method can also be used to great effect during holloween with grapes and other festive fruit. Although it is not recommende for pumpkins and other squash, which lack the bursting potenital, and which work best as jack-o-laterns. However, if you like to get artistic with your food presentation - well who knows what you will be inspired to create? Enjoy! Al (ps. I think it is named afer someplace in NY but I never seem to get it right - Waldwarf, or Waldork or Welldark Salad - oh and it is supposed to be light eating, but only if your use light mayo.)
