Me ... I won! - oops - I was dreaming again ... nevermind. I have been to Europe several times, but all as a child. What I wouldn't give to visit as an adult and have all my art supplies in tow! I'm embarrassed to say that the thing that sticks out in my mind most about Paris is that when I was stuck there due to a missed flight, my mom couldn't get the waitress in the airport cafe to understand what toast with jelly was - she only spoke Italian. We hunted for someone who spoke English and French so my mom could tell me (I think age 9, this trip) in Italian, I would translate it to English and the kind gentleman we found who spoke English and French became my hero of the day. My mom made me a peanut-butter avec jelly sandwich with the peanut butter she smuggled from CA in her carry-on for my cousin, Gianni, in Pordenone. There was no such thing as Skippy peanut butter in Italy at the time. No ketchup either... sorry, this should be an art post, not a funky food stories message board! But ... if you could see how I decorate my PB&J sandwiches now ...
