The Midwest just feels so far from the ocean, and the weather is always in your consciousness, yesterday's, today's and tomorrow's. People here like a certain calm, a certain orderliness in life and in people, they like to know them, preferably for years, even better, for generations. There's a lot I love about this place, and there are things I avoid or resist. We don't all have to like the same things, or the same artists, but sometimes it's fun to.
