1 ~ What if dreaming was the visual mathematics of perception? ~ Mathematics to me are abstract, quasi accurate representations of reality - a way to put complex observations and understandings into a useable form for communication, further understanding, analysis, prediction and the adjusting of conditions. If so, then are dreams abstract representations of our perception of reality? Or are they quasi accurate or hyper-perceptions of it? . . . . hmmm. . . .. the word "perception" is an interesting one. Dreams seem to go beyond mere perception and be more than just a serving up of visual images. With an earlier posters emotional component, and all the woofing and twitching dogs do while dreaming, it seems like dreams are more like full sensory "experiences". So does the question get more interesting if rephrased as "Are dreams the visual mathematics of experience?" . . . ~ Are dreams stepping stones over words? ~ . . . Dreams seem to be fluid, like a flowing stream of images while words seem to be solid, concrete and more like the solid ground upon which we stand and thus stepping stones. So what happens if the metaphor is flipped and we ask "Is dreaming the flow between the stepping stones of words we use to process experience?" We can attempt to translate our dreams into words, but it seems more like dumping a few words out of an upended boot than a true process of translation. . . . ~ Are dreams a language of communication unwilling to be translated hmmm&.unwilling is another interesting word. Being unwilling would imply that dreams could also be willing, which I think implies that they have the ability to choose. Dreams having choices. Is that in addition to the dreamer (assuming the dreamer has a choice)? Are dreams a language of communication, or a language of experience? If they are to be translated, into what do they wish to transform? Or is transform too much of a leap over those stepping stones? For that matter, what are words? Abstract ideas and concepts of experience? Or perception of experience? Exactly what kind of stream are we crossing and what words (and ideas) do we think form the solid ground of reality? Is our understanding of words based on our experiences? Does flame mean the same thing to me, the firefighter and the Buddhist? Is it our experiences that make the difference? What if our dreams are more than just processing of information and experience? What of the dreams that inspire us? What of the dreams we use to create and change our reality - either mentally, through our understanding or our actions the next day?. . . . . . . . . . . . 2 ~ Is intuition (waking dream) that means of "swift thinking" through pictures? ~ Intuition seems a different experience from a waking or lucid dream. Intuition (inner tuition) seems more like "a knowing" where dreams are more like "visually-oriented experience stories" (to wrap some words around them). So I would separate them and ask if "Is intuition swift thinking? Is intuition picture based?" At this point, do we care if the thinking is swift and good or just swift? (Swift is not by any means to be confused with nifty or Swift Family Robinson.) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 ~ Is a dream a private viewing or is it possible for it to be seen on other channels? ~ Well, that would solve the problem of 500 channels and nothing on. Do I have to have a Dish to get it, or will my local cable pick it up? Saints preserve us, I hope it is private! If not, are scramblers available yet at Radio Shack? (radio shack - not to be confused with a tigin hut - BTW what exactly is a tigin hut? ) (scramblers - - not to be confused with scrambled eggs or eggs over easy with two strips of bacon at the loca IHOP). . . . .4 ~ Is dreaming a two-way door? ~ If you dream of a "dream", do you visualize it as a language, a two-way door, a magic carpet . . .? Can you turn it around and use dreaming to understand the nature, purpose and substance of dreams? Dreams do seem to be more than just images - they have sounds and touch and the sense of movement through space. Not easy things to "fool" the body that they are real. If dreams are (areeaa rugs) then who does the weaving? The mind? Which mind? The one we think is in our head and the same thing as our brain? The collective mind? Are we merely upload units with brain transmitters? I agree with Ellie - Seems like the universe is much too big and beautiful and amazing a place to just be upload units. However, having a cell phone/high definition TV/unlimited distance connect plan with no roaming charges would be . . . errr . . . . (handy in a mindful sort of way). If "Information gained by the five senses that are being fed into the collective unconscious" has anyone bother to ask it if it is still hungry? Does it like take out or prefer "phone in" orders (a good reason for a spirit phone Id say)? Maybe the dream pages (9b) get switched because spaghetti (aka some dreams) are better the second day. Or perhaps the CU foolows proper food (err &dream) combining? You know - keep your carabo dreams separated from your protean dreams by at least three hours. 9b - Exactly how do you return an accidental dream? Do you need a receipt or will the dream store take your word for it that it is not yours? Do you get a double billing the next night? Is it good to let the CU know you suspect it is both clumsy AND accident prone? (prone not soupline) I think Einstein hedged this one nicely with the dice comment. Although insinuating that the CU gambles may not be the best course of action either. Seems like you have to be careful where your feet go when talking about the Carpet Underrug. Do dreams belong to anyone? My guess is that Napster would say No, they are part of the public domain. . . . . . . . . . 6 ~ Only Rosie the Riverter (WWII poseter girl) knows for sure. . . . . 7 Skip this one . . .8 Skip this one too . . .9a ditto . . .9b see above . .. .10 Are we supposed to file something . . .like with a bureauatalkchrispy french fries for you CU? Extra ketchup? (it is like throwing peanuts to the elephants in the zoo - keeps em happy and boosts peanut sails) RE-encrypted. As in encrypted in the first place of original? Ooooooopps. Where is the nearest RS? . . . 11 Zen - like dreams. Can I get a double helping of that? Maybe it is all the Eastern exposure, but I am still trying to figure out if we could get Tshirts to tell the difference between the teachers and students. How exactly you get Tshirts to talk is one I have not yet figured out . . . 12 Let me read my horoscope before I answer that one . . .rising sign, right? Vedic or Western Sidereal? Ok, so robbing a bank is out this week, Taurus we are not even going to talk about and I am not sure if "claiming more of my astrological potential with a [george] Plimpton like exuberance" is quite what I had in mind. Is a lemming like dash programmed into my keyboard or is it one of those "special characters"? Note: No lemmings were injured in the making of this post. Common sense was left at the two way door. BTW _ I am not sure there is a CU. It feels much more like a collective network of diversity with adventures galore and the elbow room to find the opportunities that intrigue and delight you.
