A first go-round of results (and if anyone can tell me how to format these postings, even with so much as a carriage return, I'd be most grateful) follow. In general, please note that xylene and acetone must always and only be used in a well-ventilated space. My back patio worked fine for me. They tend to dry one's skin to a whitish look, but I'm unsure if their solvent abilities extends to rubber, so I was leery of wearing gloves. In any case, it was fine after I washed my hands. Any combination I've found which produces anything like decent results also is very fast and requires little or no burnishing to make the transfer. Acetone dries extremely quickly; xylene less so.
