Another technique, and a more crucial one for many of my visual ideas (alas that my ability to relate things doesn't keep up with the flow of things to relate!) that's been discussed once upon a time here is that of transferring images onto a work in progress. I'd be happy to do so with just B&W imagery, to tell the truth, and am not worried about transferring color images. Having picked up some acetone and some xylene, experiments were begun. I'm fiddling with laser-print and photocopied originals, the aforementioned chemicals, and a variety of target media: regular paper; glossy magazine paper; paper treated with inkpads, fixative, acrylic paint or anything else that springs to mind. I'll eventually mess with transferring graphite or watercolor pencil, but I have a lot of options to try out already. Has anyone any observations or experiences with this sort of thing? It could take the edge off of what I'm to attempt. And I solemnly swear to report my findings to this august body of creatives and art lovers.
