I'm interested in the questions and the responses in this thread and will offer this: 1.Sometimes a picture or image in a dream can cut through logic, societal norms, rationalizations etc., subversive (12) in that dreams sometimes present themselves in opposition to our structured lives and views. 2. I often find solutions to problems or take intuitive leaps while sleeping and wake up with fresh perspective. I don't often remember my dreams, though, so I don't know if they have anything to do with it. 3. When I was a child my sister and I would sometimes have the same images in dreams and nightmares, not on the same nights, but we would recognize dream-only characters and objects if one of us talked about a dream. The other could describe accurately the unmentioned details. I generally think of dreams as being interior monologues, hidden parts of ourselves making themselves known, but it doesn't take me much effort to believe our dreams can be interwoven or shared with others. 7.If I'm terrified or upset in a dream, I will look at my hands and rewrite the action sometimes, otherwise it wouldn't occur to me to try to direct, I'm too involved or interested in the unfolding of it. I'm often other people and have different goals and morality than usual, and it's much more interesting and dimensional than any fantasy I could concoct.
