It's a giant game of cat and mouse. They try to track us down and trick us into doing what they want us to do, but we thwart them with acts of spontaneity, unknowingly doing whatever we can to live 'off thread'. Atropos always wins in the end. I wonder if this makes the other sisters jealous?
