The ability to transfer images gives to physical media an ability otherwise reserved for electronic media, namely that of limitless layering. It's fantastic. But you all already know this. In fact, unless I'm mistaken (which would not be a surprise), it's a technique used extensively in the New Collage area of the bazaar. All this to preface 2 questions: Is this indeed the way that, for example, the map was overlaid on the Tambourine Collage? I'm one who has little experience with physical visual arts but an accelerating flow of images to express, if only I can convey them. Hence, an interest in techniques of conveyance. Xylene isn't that easy to come by, it seems. But I've heard that acetone will serve the same purpose. I'm skeptical. Has anyone tried it?
