I was born in 1951, yet I can't forget the sorrow my folks felt for their contemporaries, namely those that lost loved ones at Pearl Harbor and through the ensuuing battle that followed into 1945.Though it's now fashionable and even Godly to forgive and forget, in honoring those that had fallen then, we should never take lightly what happened there and why. As we drive and ride our Japanese mororcycles and automobiles, consider how much of that iron and steel we gave them. Before the transistor radio and the first of many Honda motorcycles came across our shores, we gave them more than plenty! On Dec 7th, 1941, we got back much of it... on Pearl Harbor! Twenty years later, they graduated from selling us cheap penny toys and rubber knives to high-tech industry and trade...., they got us again! Hope our people and politicians will one day get a little more sentimental over the little white markers in our national cemetaries. Yes, I was born 6 and a half years after Dec 7th, 1941, but I will remember that date which FDR said, "A date that will live in infamy!" and I will NEVER forget it! B D Nelson, U.S. Navy (ret)
