Popular culture would have one believe that all sweetness is cloying and unsophisticated. Passion and earthiness are depicted as necessarily vulgar. Not true, not true. Kindness, sensuality, creativity, practicality, intellectual brilliance, innovation, imagination,humor, power and childlike fun can and does coexist all over the place. To all the other stuff I just say it's all old news. Let's find a different way, let's stop beating ourselves and each other up. Let's stop entertaining ourselves with a fascination for the brutal side that for sure exists in all of us. We make lots of mistakes, but the really great thing is we can transcend all of our baseness and silliness with just a decision to do it.
