Help! I like the bad guy list (well, I haven't got the first one but I'll work on it) although the last one on that list looks different to me after Gregory Maguire's bio. Did Dracula at least make the top ten? I'll offer as a good guy Sara Crewe from A Little Princess. I know she won't win but I always liked her. Ullyses of course. Indiana Jones. Aragorn. Huck Finn. What immediately came to mind were a series of magicians, whom I preferred to the heroes or the seekers; Merlin in several versions, Gandalf, The Wizard of Earthsea,Ford Prefect, Obiwan Kenobi, Paul Atreides, Harry Potter. I fear it reflects a certain pessimism about human effort and ability, but maybe it's a longing for transcendence.
