Al is calm, Al is bright ... am I right?! Well, the 22 month old is now 2 yrs, 4 mos and I took on the challenge of watching her daily since her mom got a full time job. It forced me out of the wheelchair and I am rehabilitating quickly! We just went on a Pier One run today and I was asking myself, what DO pickles have to do with Christmas? She was like, "what? I don't like pickles, can we get a cheeseburger from Mc Donald's" I don't remember baby Jesus having one as a chew toy in the manger ... Cost plus is fun for decorative spheres, and pickles, we get a couple ones there each year (not pickles). I've pretty much got jewel toned crystals, cracked glass and variated icicles with afew gold glass hearts and some eggplant colored ball ornaments thrown in to throw everyone off. The funnest part for me is that we have spiral ornament hangers with crystals for EVERY ornament on the tree. We have been collecting them and last year we did the old, "don't need these anymore" also and totally purged the drab and dreary undesirables from the sacred faux tree. We ditched the huge (translate: monstrously big)fake tree and got a slender fir so we don't have to move all the furniture around and there is more seating for holiday games of catch phrase & the sort. It's weird, I am trying to keep doing art, but simultaneously trying to keep the living doll from destroying all my supplies. She doesn't understand the difference between collage stickers and the miniature credit card stickers that come in those ridiculously high interest rate mail offers. I use the mini credit card stickers to bribe her to do what comes naturally to most when in a rest room ... One cool art thing I did that was 2 year old related is I took a huge red mat board and collaged the 2 maps of Disneyland and California Adventure on it. We have annual passes and since she is under 3 she gets in free. It is about 2 ft x 3 ft and she goes and points out what ride she wants to go on that day. Then when we come home we re-trace our steps. I have yet to buy the soap paints for the tub, but those look like fun too. It's stuff my mom would have never done ... to imagine my mom, picture Rose's mom in Titanic ... not the artsy type, and at 79, I have YET to see her in anyting purple!
