It doesnt work all the time. I've pioneered a technique that I use in my work that you might try. If you want to physically overlay the image you can try spray glueing the image face down over the base image. Sand with fine grade sand paper to thin the paper to 50%. Apply clear varnish. the paper will disappear and the image will come through. Make sure you use a cotton fiber paper.
